To bring members together through community activities, educational programs, social events, wellness programs, and volunteer opportunities, creating a welcoming environment where everyone can participate, contribute, and grow together.
Friendship, respect, service, and growth guide our community. We value meaningful relationships, welcome different experiences and ideas, give back to our community, and continue learning and growing together.
The Central Florida EverGreen Seniors Club was initiated by Ms. Wendi Chen, with Mr. Ping Qiao, Mr. Rongcai Wu, Ms. Xiaoying Huang, and others serving as founding members. On August 8, 2016, Ms. Chen officially submitted the organization's formation documents to the State of Florida.
In the early days, many generous supporters made donations and provided strong encouragement to the new organization. On August 12, 2016, EverGreen held its inaugural meeting at First Bank in Orlando. Mr. Ping Qiao was elected as the first president, Ms. Xiaoying Huang as vice president, and Mr. Rongcai Wu was responsible for financial affairs.
In its early years, EverGreen regularly gathered in the activity room at First Bank. Members enjoyed singing, sharing food, and talking together in a warm and friendly atmosphere. With assistance from Mr. Shaoying Tian, the club successfully registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and was approved to use the senior center facility on Marks Street.
Since 2018, EverGreen's regular activities have continued at the Marks Street senior center. Over the years, the club has grown into a vibrant community with more than 100 members.
EverGreen celebrates a wide variety of Chinese traditional festivals, including Chinese New Year, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Living in the United States, we also embrace local traditions by celebrating holidays such as Halloween and Christmas together.
Food is an important part of our gatherings. Members often bring their favorite homemade dishes to share, while the club also orders delicious meals from local Chinese restaurants. During the Dragon Boat Festival, board members prepare zongzi by hand for our members, offering meat, vegetarian, and sweet varieties. At our Mid-Autumn Festival gatherings, mooncakes symbolize reunion and bring an especially warm feeling to the celebration.
Mr. Rongcai Wu later served as the club's second president, with Ms. Chunying Zheng serving as vice president. Today, the club is led by Dr. Bing Zhang as president and Ms. Chunying Zheng as vice president.
Dr. Zhang has generously supported EverGreen and its development for many years. Ms. Zheng coordinates the club's day-to-day activities. In addition, EverGreen has seven board members who oversee areas including cultural programs, finance, logistics, membership, and community relations. Former president Mr. Rongcai Wu continues to serve as an advisor and contribute to the club's development.
Performing arts are an important part of EverGreen's community life. Members regularly practice traditional dance, fashion shows, and other performances. Some members have dance experience, while many discovered their love of dance after joining the club. Members encourage and learn from one another in a warm and supportive environment.
In 2025, EverGreen established a choir. Members practice Chinese and international choral music together, including rounds, two-part harmony, and multi-part singing. The club has also performed at Chinese New Year celebrations hosted by the Orlando Chinese Professional Association and has been invited to participate in events at Guang Ming Temple and Orange County FusionFest celebrations.
EverGreen offers line dancing and Baduanjin exercises to support members' health, fitness, and interests. These activities provide opportunities to stay active while enjoying time with friends.
Chess, Mahjong, and other recreational activities are popular among members. The emphasis is not on winning or losing, but on social connection, mental exercise, and friendship. EverGreen also has interest groups for fishing, gardening, and other hobbies where members share experiences and enjoy their interests together.
We welcome new members and friends aged 55 and above who would like to become part of our warm and vibrant community.
